I have my great grandmother’s letters, Christmas card lists, and a specific letter written to Amy about the relatives from her mother Mary Rupp Schrecongost; The Rupps, Goodharts or spelled Goodhearts, Snyders, Postlewaites, Smiths, Pontius, Flemings and Becks. This doesn’t include the large Schrecongost’s, Zierden’s or Patchell’s families.
Mary Rupp had a private tutor, Miss Florence Goodhart she was a teacher. Florence was the daughter of Sarah C. Rupp Goodhart and Augustus Goodhart. Sarah was sister to Mary Rupp.
Mary Rupp inherited the Rupp Farm and then Amy S. Patchell inherited the farm, she sold the farm to a mining company in the late 1920’s.

My mother Gret remembers her grandmother, she was tall and kind but very ill. Gret would go in her room and sit next to her and hold her hand. When her grandmother died Gret went into the room and pulled the sheet off her head and kissed her cheek, she was cold, then she put the sheet back over her face. Gret was 5 years old. Letter April 14, 1957 to Amy S. Patchell
My father George Beck lived on the farm next to your dad’s farm SJ Schrencongost and John H. Rupp farm Wayne, Armstrong, PA. My mother Harriet Lias Beck, her parents, the Lias had the hotel on Main St. in Dayton, Pa. when she married George they moved to the farm and the bedroom was damp and she had lung problems. In 1870’s they moved to the oil fields in Parker City, PA. Her grandparents Aunt Sade and Uncle Will Fleming asked her dad to come into business with them, George invested $700 in business - Beck & Fleming Store in Huntington. However things turned sour and Uncle Will said he was not needed and left without a penny, returned to Dayton and the hotel.
Got a house in Williamsport on Washington St., next to Grandfather. Caroline’s father George became a salesman for Mr. Bartlett.
Then was offered to come in business with J.C. Blair Stationary Co. They had a falling out with Margaret Fleming - liked Marie, Cloyd, Leone. Aunt Sade took things after grandma died. Grandfather inherited $75,000 from brother in St. Louis. The warehouse valued at $70,000 gave to George Fleming. But they did inherit the farm.
