Frank Patchell knew Tom Mix (1880-1910) in Mix Run, PA. It was 62 miles from nearby Du Bois, PA. Tom Mix’s father was a stable master for a wealthy lumber merchant, working on local farms owned by John Du Bois. Tom Mix had a dream to be in the a circus and came across Frank Patchell’s brothers who were in a circus (Walter Main’s circus). Frank worked in the Du Bois Lumber Company and knew Tom for a brief time in 1890 - 1897. These where part of Fred Patchell’s stories told to his children and grandchildren.
